Job Description
Position: Production Automation Floater, Bell Media, Unifor 723M
Job Status: Regular- Part Time
Location: 299 Queen Street West, Toronto Ontario, Canada
Salary: Unifor 723M-Group L Commensurate with qualifications and experience
Hours of Work: 22.5 hours per week. (Shift work and overtime as required)
Responsabilities:
- Supporting the production line-up by confirming the correct elements within the broadcast are working and aligned with that production’s PAD and Director
- Inform producer, talent and crew of any changes throughout a show
- Backfills Production Automation Director (PAD) on occasion
- Lead and maintain a positive work environment in the control room
- Responsible for the timing of the production, its elements within it and communicating with master control
- Maintains equipment, software and technical apparatus in a state suitable and available for production use by ensuring their proper operating condition
- In the case of technical or program failure, makes substitutions or adjustments as necessary to maintain continuous service. Assist broadcast personnel in solving problems
- Coordinate activities regarding program delivery and presentation
- Operating video switching equipment, character generators, audio, playback/AVID Airspeed, camera video control operation, prompter and other associated technical equipment as required
- Floor management and camera operation as required
- Organize and rehearse all elements of the program to ensure talent and crew are fully prepared
- Constructs and maintains computerized program presentation database
- Acquiring various remote broadcast signals
- Coordinate communication with remote guest/s, talent and crew
- Ensure that all items to be used in the program are prepared to defined standards
- Other duties as required
Critical Qualifications
- At least 5 years experience in media production
- Extensive knowledge of live media production tools and their function, including video distribution systems, broadcast graphics implementation, audio routing hardware and audio processing software
- Previous experience with Ross production devices and Lawo audio support systems
- Excellent computer skills including knowledge of iNews or other NRCS
- Proven creative ability
- Superior planning, negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Fundamental editorial judgement
- Experience in a live media environment
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
