The Role:

The Senior Consultant, Strategic Programs, will be part of a lean team with broad reaching influence and impact, providing the BBM business unit with strategic advisory services to improve organizational performance and long-term competitiveness.  Reporting to the Director, Strategic Programs, the senior consultant will partner with stakeholders across disciplines and functional groups to assist in the annual business planning cycle, strategic projects, transformational changes, organization restructuring and improving the overall effectiveness of specific functions.

A successful candidate would have a talent for grasping complex business challenges and developing tangible, workable strategies, programs and business cases.  He or she would leverage analytical skills, resourcefulness & natural curiosity, high learning and mental agility and an ability to collaborate across the business.  Through designing, deployment & facilitation of effective governance and working methods, this role will drive momentum & execution alignment to priorities of high priority initiatives & financial plans.
 

Job Duties/Accountabilities:

Business analysis & insight – support the Director and broader BBM team in the development of complex analytical and valuation modelling, industry analysis and research pursuant to strategic projects.  Shape and conduct the required research & analysis in support of recommendation development that resolve key business challenges and maximize value creation.  Conduct market, competitive & technology trends research and communicate strategic implications.  Synthesize, codify and add insight and value to the information gathered.  Credibly and effectively communicate findings, both orally and in writing.

Program management – support large projects and cross-functional teams.  Develop and manage work-plans to coordinate cross-team activities.  Ensuring teams produce quality deliverables on time and as committed.  Embed appropriate change management, communications, enablement & governance into the project architecture.

Facilitation & workshop management – design, shape and lead working sessions with extended team and senior business leaders to drive the required results & outcomes.  Demonstrate confidence and resilience in tough interactions and stressful situations.  Credibly & effectively communicate and present to senior executives.

Strategic planning & alignment – help develop & consolidate our 3-year strategic plan and our annual operating plan.  Working with business unit planning primes, help clarify priorities, reinforce end-to-end design thinking and alignment.

 

Critical Competencies:

  • Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in management consulting or corporate strategy;
  • Advanced analytical and creative problem solving skills;
  • Strong sense of initiative and a resourceful self-starter;
  • Proven ability to juggle multiple priorities & objectives;
  • Comfort with ambiguity and dynamic environments;
  • A natural organizer & connector of dots;
  • Experience in project management and change management;
  • A highly effective collaborator within a matrix environment;
  • Very strong communication skills, a relationship-builder;
  • Strong background in quantitative analysis and structured thinking;
  • High self-awareness and commitment to growth & development;
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint;
  • Undergraduate degree in business, engineering, or economics

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
