What we are looking for …

The Senior Manager, Entertainment (Pay) Development & Operations, is responsible for owning the end-to-end software development, integration & testing, release management and daily operations associated with the evolution of Bell Media’s movie-based pay entertainment brands (eg – CraveTV, TMN, HBO, Super Écran).  This includes the development and deployment of engaging video-viewing experiences on web, mobile and 10’ screen devices (eg - iOS, TVOS, Android, Android TV, Gaming Consoles, Smart TV’s, etc).

 

You will support and staff a team of internal and external software developers to achieve the product development goals defined by product owners by translating business vision and customer experience needs into technical requirements that will be built and operated by your team.     This will involve evaluating skills requirements and delivery velocity, to ensure proper resourcing is in place internally, as well as evaluate, contract and engage external software development parties to augment the team’s capability to deliver on our pay entertainment product requirements across all consumer screens.

 

You will also provide technical direction leadership to your team, key stakeholders and executive leaders on new innovations and improvements that advance the consumer experience of these products, as well as be deeply engaged and communicate the day-to-day operational health of these products.

 

The successful candidate is also expected to foster the principles and values of agile methodology in the development and ongoing release processes supported by his/her team, and be able to work across other internal development teams to integrate common core modules and interact with other shared systems that deliver video content to consumers.

 

Accordingly, the position demands a senior, seasoned technology professional with exceptional oral and written communication, influence and coaching skills, a strong sense of ownership, previous people leadership experience, and an orientation towards fostering effective teams that are continuously improving their processes.

 

What we want to see in our ideal candidate …

  • Minimum 8 years experience in media or telecommunications in areas of Technology Development, IT, or Software Engineering functions
  • University degree preferably in Engineering or Computer Science (B.Eng, BSc) or equivalent practical experience
  • Working understanding of web front end (HTML, JavaScript, CSS), backend (Java, database technologies) and mobile software development  (iOS, Android, etc) technologies
  • Working understanding of continuous integration / continuous deployment and test automation tools and processes
  • Familiarity with CMS-based tools and technologies
  • Previous experience in delivering projects through agile development approaches
  • Proven experience supporting teams operating on large scale software development projects
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong leadership, facilitation skills and coaching skills
  • Must be able to stand on their own two feet in driving clarity in an ever changing technical environment
  • Not afraid to get their hands dirty in how the work gets done
  • Ability to travel between Toronto offices (Downtown, Scarborough), and periodically to Montreal offices
