Position Description:

To support its growth, Bell Media is looking for a Senior Mobile Solution Architect to join the architecture team supporting our mobile and web applications owned by Bell Media (CTV, CraveTV, RDS, TMN, TSN, CTV News, and more). The candidate will play a key role in the developing and evolving our video platforms allowing for reusability of components across many brands within a multidisciplinary team.

 

The positions requirement includes the implementation of Agile Scrum development methodologies in research, analysis, development and deployment initiatives. 

 

Job Duties/Accountabilities:

  • Defines application and system architecture based on business requirements post grooming sessions with the team.
  • Defines strategic architecture approach to develop features, creating technical diagrams such as class diagram, sequence diagram, component diagram and message diagram, detailing application architecture approach to the development team.
  • Performs coding and unit tests toward architecture diagrams and ensure the development team is working based on application architecture definition, supporting developers on complex implementations and reviewing architecture diagrams in case actual development differs from the initial architecture approach
  • Supports QA test strategy on features, making sure the best code coverage approach mimics business cases and are reflected into test cases.

 

Key Functions:

  • Work with other technology teams in order to determine needs for new software, platforms and applications
  • Guide the development and evolution of the Bell Media video player
  • Utilize tools, technology and various methodologies to create functional and intuitive solutions for user interfaces of desired products
  • Develop and implement product specifications
  • Pay attention to system integration, sustainability and feasibility
  • Manage all phases of technology development 
  • Oversee and supervise the work of the development team
  • Guide and train developers and engineers
  • Suggest and implement solutions for process improvement
  • Adhere to all the requirements and guidelines for quality, security, extensibility etc.

 

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent;
  • Software Architecture;
  • Software Design;
  • Infrastructure Architecture;
  • System Design and Implementation;
  • Ability to consult and build CI/CD DevOps Pipelines
    • Incident Management: Jira, Service Now
    • Source Code Mgt: BitBucket
    • Build: Maven/ANT
    • CodeScan: Veracode, Nexus
    • Code Quality: Sonarqube
    • Test: Selenium, Cucumber, JUnit
    • Deploy/Automation: Jenkins or Gitlab
  • 5+ yrs experience writing code & develop software solutions. (Swift, Objective C, Kotlin, Jacascript (ES6+/Typescript), Java, Go, C# are the preferred languages)
  • 3+ yrs scripting in infrastructure automation tool and supporting code deployment (Terraform & Ansible, Chef, Juju, AWS CloudFormation)
  • 2+ yrs Container application design and implementation.
  • 2+ yrs of public cloud (AWS, Azure, SoftLayer).
  • 2 years of experience in writing unit and integration tests;
  • Experience with Streaming video knowledge (DASH, HLS, MSS)
  • Experience in NoSQL databases (CouchDB, MongoDB)
  • Experience using and/or developing on a Unix/Linux platform
  • Strong time management skills and work ethic (highly motivated) to manage multiple projects/accountabilities

 

Nice to have Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Previous experience being part of steady Dev/Ops team
  • Previous experience with Video transcoding (libav, ffmpeg, x264, x265, mpeg2)
  • Previous experience with content management
