Position Description

We are building a new 5G cloud core network with advanced slicing and edge computing capability to help create the next generation of consumer and business services. The technology is cutting-edge and the opportunity for you to make an impact is huge!

As Senior Strategist within Bell’s Network & Technology Services (NTS) Enterprise Architecture team, you will be expected to work in a highly cross-functional environment with standards-based strategists, architects, network engineers and product management personnel, in conjunction with vendors and external partners.  You will also be expected to deliver strategic recommendations to executive stakeholders, and solidly transfer these into execution through your leadership, influence and process-centric mindset.

Your primarily focus will be to define the strategic plan, capabilities, and network topologies for emerging 5G core technologies.  Accordingly, the successful proponent must possess a solid working understanding of multiple technology domains including RAN, core, transport, management and orchestration, as well as cloud computing.  Aside from a strong technical acumen, the candidate must have proven leadership skills and possess the confidence to facilitate and drive collaboration across multiple technology domains, in order to formulate a clear E2E vision for the new technology introduction.
 

Key Responsibilities

  • Guide the E2E strategy, discovery approach and technical product MVP’s for the introduction of new 5G wireless technologies, examples including E2E network slicing, UPF on edge, 5G core evolution to hyperscaler cloud, and 5G core network function roadmap evolution. 
  • Collaborate with other Network Strategy, Network Development & Product teams to research and establish emerging business use cases and associated benefits that will consume these new capabilities into roadmaps, as well as partner with technical SME’s to translate these into technical requirements for delivery
  • Work with vendor partners to understand and steer their software roadmaps in line with our business & technology vision
  • Deliver executive level presentations on plans and progress

Critical Qualifications

  • Educational background in Electrical Engineering, Applied Science, or Computer Science
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working as an architect or technical product manager in the area of wireless core, with technical working knowledge of RAN, transport and automation/orchestration technologies
  • Strong technical acumen and ability to pick up new technology concepts quickly
  • Proven ability to work in an ambiguous, emerging technology environment, and be able to drive clarity and alignment of team members towards a common product development goal
  • Working experience acting as an architect or product owner within an agile delivery framework
  • Working experience applying experimental methodologies, such as lean thinking, design thinking
  • Working knowledge of agile collaboration tools – Confluence, Jira, Miro, Slack
  • Superior skills in facilitating, collaborating, and influencing peers and executives
  • Proven track record of creating and presenting compelling executive presentations
  • Always willing to “pick up the ball” and “get things done” without being told what to do
