Summary
The SD-WAN and Wi-Fi consultant is responsible for the design, implementation, optimization, and maintenance of the SD-WAN and Wireless network infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
- Network Design & Implementation: Design and deploy SD-WAN solutions based on business requirements. Plan, design, and deploy wireless networks based on site surveys, capacity planning, and performance requirements.
- Configuration & Optimization: Configure and optimize wireless network hardware (access points, controllers, etc.) for optimal performance and coverage. Configure and manage SD-WAN devices and software, including routers, firewalls, and centralized management platforms.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve SD-WAN and Wi-Fi network issues, including connectivity problems, interference, and security vulnerabilities.
- Security: Implement and maintain wireless security protocols (e.g., WPA2/3, 802.1X) to protect network resources. Implement and maintain security policies and procedures for the SD-WAN environment.
- Documentation: Create and maintain detailed network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures.
- Collaboration: Work with other IT teams, including network, security, and application teams, to ensure seamless integration of SD-WAN with existing infrastructure.
- Vendor Management: Work with vendors to evaluate and select SD-WAN and Wi-Fi networking hardware and software.
- Stay Current: Keep up-to-date with the latest Networking technologies and industry trends.
- Automation: Automate SD-WAN deployment, configuration, and monitoring tasks using scripting and automation tools.
- Capacity Planning: Plan for future network capacity needs and make recommendations for upgrades or expansions.
Critical Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
- Experience in designing, implementing, and managing SDWAN and Wi-Fi networks.
- Understanding of networking concepts, including routing, switching, and TCP/IP.
- Experience with SD-WAN technologies and vendors (e.g., Cisco, VMware, Fortinet, Palo Alto Networks).
- Strong understanding of wireless networking protocols (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax).
- Experience with wireless network security protocols (WPA2/3, 802.1X).
- Experience with wireless network management tools and techniques.
- Scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Ansible).
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNA, CCNP, SD-WAN certifications).
- Professional certifications (e.g., CWNA, CWSP, CCNA Wireless).
- Experience in network engineering, with a focus on SD-WAN technologies.
- Experience with specific wireless networking vendors (e.g., Cisco, Aruba, Ruckus).
