Summary
We are seeking a highly experienced and innovative Senior Manager to tackle the challenge of solving business problems with enterprise datasets and data products by leading a team of software development architects and data engineers. This includes multiple facets surrounding the architecture of data systems and products, including data as a service, data lakes and storage, data ingestion, data engineering and data AI and algorithms, which further involves the innovation on how data can help solve customer problems or create frictionless, personalized experiences. This role requires a deep understanding of data and software engineering methodologies and a collaborative approach to working with various teams across the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of data engineers and software developers in charge of designing and deploying data pipelines, data warehouses, and data infrastructure.
- Define and build enterprise datasets and data products, working closely with data producers and data consumers.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand data requirements, translate them into technical solutions, and measure impact/value.
- Define and implement state-of-the-art engineering standards at an enterprise scale.
- Manage and improve the development pipeline, focusing on software delivery flow and feature velocity.
- Establish an efficient and iterative management system, constantly delivering business value while keeping technical debt under control.
- Define strategic orientation based on industry trends and help define Bell's differentiation using data.
- Support the team in structuring and managing projects to ensure strategic alignment.
Critical Qualifications
- 5+ years of proven experience in leading and managing data engineering teams, including hiring, performance management, and team development.
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, architecture, pipeline/transformation, warehousing, modeling, and governance.
- University degree in software/computer engineering/IT.
- Extensive experience with cloud data platforms and their ecosystems.
- Mastery of SDLC & DevOps practices applied to the data domain (Infra-as-code, software engineering, CI/CD pipelines).
- A strategic mindset with strong technical, business, and financial acumen; focused on the big picture and strategy
- Excellent grasp of Agile-Lean flow thinking and problem-solving.
- Fundamental collaborative approach and the ability to establish internal and external business partnerships.
- Team player adaptable to uncertain and changing needs.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Extensive experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services
- Experience with strategic planning methods
- Experience in telecom industry
- Bilingual (French/English)
