Requirements:

 

Training/Education:

 

  • Bachelor or Master of Engineering
  • Bachelor or Master of Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science (preferred)
  • Bachelor or Master in Telecommunications/Network Engineering (optional)

 

Knowledge:

 

Software (required):

 

  • Operating Systems (UNIX/Linux)

 

Databases:

 

  • Any RDBMS (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, etc…)

 

Programming and markup languages:

 

  • Java, JavaScript, SQL, PL/SQL, Python

 

Full Stack development and CI/CD:

 

  • ReactJS (or equivalent), NodeJS, Java EE/.NET, Django, Apache Flask, Jenkins

 

Containerization, Stream Processing and Microservices:

 

  • Apache Kafka (or equivalent)
  • Docker, Openshift (or equivalent)

 

Network and Technologies (preferred):

 

  • L1: SONET, PDH, WDM (DWDM, CWDM)
  • L2: Ethernet, VPLS, ATM
  • L3: TCP/IP, MPLS
  • DSL, FTTP

 

Experience:

 

  • Experience building or customizing multi-tiered applications
  • Experience modernizing applications and application ecosystems.
  • Experience with both the development of custom, purpose built applications and the implementation and customization of off the shelf products.

 

Skills:

 

  • Strong analytical skills (ability to quickly determine the problem space and organize it into simple components)
  • Strong technical writing skills (ability to write clearly and concisely)
  • Strong modeling skills (ability to convert abstract concepts into concrete models)
  • Strong development skills (ability to write simple, elegant and robust code)
  • Challenge, influence and drive technical and architectural discussions with cross-functional teams
  • Influence all stakeholders to align towards a common business goal
  • Set clear expectations and produce design artefacts to provide clarity of functions to stakeholders
  • Apply algorithms and design patterns effectively to create robust software stack

 

 

Job Description and Responsibilities:

 

The group is responsible for building, enhancing and maintaining the Network Inventory Operational Support Systems for L1 and L2 networks.

 

  • Write a conceptual solution for the network inventory OSS
  • Write and review the system requirements specification for the implementation of a given network technology or function within the network inventory OSS
  • Actively participate in the design and the implementation phases (including design reviews and code reviews)
  • Define the test plan and oversee the execution of the test cases
  • Participate in the planning and design of new network technologies, protocols and functionalities with the Technology Development group

 

In the short term, the job will focus on the modernization of the network inventory OSS ecosystem.  This will include:

 

  • The consolidation and federation of various inventory systems.
  • The exposure of the consolidated/federated inventory to other functional domains via restful web services, streaming and extracts.

 

Bilingualism is an asset (English and French); adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
