The Team

The Digital Video Services Development team is responsible for the creation of services that power awesome online experiences, including the country’s most recognized brands, such as TSN, RDS, CTV and Crave TV.  Our team’s mission is to deliver digital experiences that entertain, inform, engage and inspire audiences through the screen of their choice – at home or on the go – on the web and through connected consumer electronic devices. 

We work in a collaborative, agile environment with team members from all of Bell Media’s brands to develop specifications, make recommendations and build experiences that Canadians expect. Position Description:

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Digital Video Services Development, the Software Architect is responsible for leading the development team that designs, develops and maintains the software used in the ingestion and delivery operations of Bell Media Digital.  This includes championing best practices, interfacing with various stakeholders and other development teams, owning the various agile rituals the team performs on a regular basis, and coaching team members of striving for.

The successful candidate will be expected to be a self-motivated individual who will take it upon themselves to coach their team, make improvements to the system to ensure continued service and always put their customers first.  Accordingly, the position demands a seasoned technology professional with exceptional oral and written communication, influence and coaching skills, a strong sense of ownership, and an orientation towards fostering effective teams that are continuously improving.

 

Critical Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in media or telecommunications in the areas of Software Development, IT, Technology Development, or Engineering functions
  • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft’s .Net Framework and the C# programming language
  • Knowledge of interacting with and managing a PostgreSQL RDBMS
  • Previous experience with Linux operating system, specifically Red Hat
  • Proficient in delivering projects through agile methodologies
  • Ability to meet with stakeholders and development teams to coordinate efforts
  • Exceptional oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Strong leadership, facilitation skills and coaching skills

 

Preferred Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Previous experience developing video software is an asset
  • Previous experience with .Net Core is an asset
