Name and description of the hiring department

The HR Services group provides quality support to all Bell Canada employees and its subsidiaries. These services include payroll administration, HR-related transactions, management of unionized staff transfers, and administration of the employee discount program. The Payroll Assistant – Support Centre is responsible for delivering an excellent service to employees by responding to various payroll-related inquiries and redirecting the employees when necessary. They also ensure that the advice and recommendations provided contribute positively to payroll processing efficiency.

Job Duties / Accountabilities

  • Receive, analyze, and resolve requests related to employee and manager payroll from various sources (email, online, or incoming calls)
  • Analyze various reports, justify discrepancies, and make the necessary corrections
  • Explain the different components of employee pay and tax slips while respecting legislation, government requirements, and collective agreements
  • Respond with integrity and accuracy to questions regarding compensation paid to employees
  • Understand and perform compensation calculations (gross salary to net salary, vacation pay, etc.)
  • Accurately complete declarations intended for government agencies, various documents, and required follow-ups
  • Collaborate with the teams concerned to effectively resolve unusual situations, complex cases, or matters requiring in-depth analysis
  • Negotiate repayment agreements in cases of overpayments and take the necessary measures to prevent additional losses
  • Redirect requests to the appropriate services or departments as needed
  • Maintain the satisfaction and trust of Bell employees and its subsidiaries by providing an exemplary employee experience

Essential Qualifications / Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of payroll principles and legislation, including regulatory compliance and the main elements of compensation (pay stubs, tax slips, etc.)
  • Experience working in an Employee Services environment
  • Knowledge of English and French required  and English, in the course of their duties, this person will be required to interact with French & English speaking stakeholders across Canada
  • Strong organizational, planning, priority management, and time management skills
  • Demonstrated integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism
  • Recognized ability to work independently and as part of a team as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • High attention to detail to ensure accuracy of information for clients
  • Ability to identify obstacles, take appropriate actions, show initiative and judgment, and propose process improvement solutions
  • Ability to work and adapt in a changing environment

Preferred Qualifications / Competencies

  • Minimum of one year of work experience in a call center environment
  • Completion or near completion of training or equivalent from the National Payroll Institute (NPI)
  • Experience in time management (time administrator in SAP)
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Excel
  • Intermediate proficiency in MS Word
  • Knowledge of SAP

Working Conditions

  • Schedule Monday to Friday between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM
  • Occasional overtime may be required

 

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
