Hours of Work: Night shifts, 40 hours per week. Overtime as required
Job Description
The holder of the broadcasting operator position is responsible for ensuring continuous broadcasting 24 hours a day. They must ensure the quality of the presentations, see to the execution of the broadcast schedule (log) and uphold the network's technical standards, at times while under pressure from certain production conditions.
The position holder must ensure that they are in possession of all the materials listed on the playlist (Ads, programs, promos, graphics, etc.). Working without supervision, they must make decisions that modify the playlist to maintain a continuous broadcast and high-quality service. As these changes may have an impact on costs and/or revenues, or on programming, the position holder must produce a report justifying all modifications made to the lists so that the sales reconciliation and the report for the CRTC can be completed.
The position holder may be the only one on site to ensure the airing of all broadcasts for part or all of their shift, and assumes full responsibility for broadcasting. As such, they must demonstrate autonomy in the performance of their duties and make decisions very quickly and without supervision.
The position holder must abide by recognized standards implemented at Bell, sector objectives, and Bell's mission and values.
Responsibilities
- Exporting and correcting playlists as needed
- Must detect errors or inconsistencies that have crept into certain data, and inform those responsible
- Ensure the presence of all elements (video file, graphic elements, etc.) that make up the playlists
- Quality Control and data entry in various system
- Communicate with different sectors such as quality control, post-production, commercial routing, engineering, etc., to inform them of any problems detected before, during or after the broadcast
- Make all changes to the playlists requested by the different sectors
- In the absence of different sectors, the operator makes the appropriate changes to ensure smooth running of the broadcasts
- Master and effectively operate various broadcasting equipment
- Ensure the proper functioning of the facilities and replace problematic equipment
- Report any anomalies encountered via the tools provided for this purpos
- Communicate with various signal distributors when a problem requires it
- Transfer and delete video files on the broadcast servers
- Make the necessary recordings for replays
- Install air conditioning equipment as needed
- Ensure the cleanliness of equipment and premises
- Keep technical and operational knowledge up to date, and provide training
- Perform any other related tasks
Requirements
- DCS in audiovisual, communications or equivalent

Knowledge of English required: As part of the job, this person will be required to produce documents in French & English
- Attention to detail and ability to work on a team
- Good social and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Master Control
- Initiative, resourcefulness, sense of organization, and ability to work alone
- Good knowledge of audio/video signals
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Knowledge of IBMS tools, Xytech Media Pulse, DivArchive from FrontPorch, would be an important asset
- Ease of adaptation in a changing environment from an organizational and technological point of view
- Potentially comfortable with explicit adult content
Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
