Position: ENG Technician, Bell Media

Location: Washington, D.C., USA

Salary: Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week; Overtime as required

Responsibilities

  • Electronic News Gathering (ENG) field camera, sound, and lighting work for digital and broadcast platforms
  • Ability to travel on short notice to field locations in and around Washington, D.C., across the United States, and internationally
  • Driving and travel to various work locations is an essential requirement of this position, must possess a valid driver's license and be able to operate a vehicle as part of their regular job duties
  • Operate cameras, microphones (wired, wireless, boom), portable audio mixer, lighting instruments, and editing software, as well as maintaining all gear and equipment
  • Operate and build livestream equipment, file transfer and baseband feed audio/video content using Dejero streaming equipment
  • Contribute creative ideas for field shoots resulting in visually exciting and interesting content
  • Live stream, file transfer, and baseband feed audio /video content
  • Strong editing and editorial skills using editing platforms for both station and field equipment
  • Communicate effectively with producers, reporters and editorial staff
  • Collaborate closely with producers, correspondents, and team members to contribute to the editorial process, providing input on story development, content planning, and editorial decision-making to support high-quality news coverage.

Qualifications

  • Highly skilled in the use of professional broadcast equipment, digital recording media, waveform monitors, and vector scopes
  • Highly skilled in news-style editing using non-linear editing platforms both in the office and on notebook computers in the field
  • Familiarity with all aspects of electronic news gathering /production /editing /feeding /streaming /file transfer
  • Familiarity with field video encoding for digital streaming and file transfer
  • Broad knowledge of consumer and prosumer devices for image /video capture, streaming, and transfer
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills for resolving technical issues in the field and acting as technical prime in the office
  • Prior experience with AVID Media Composer and Adobe Premiere is an asset
  • Valid driver’s license & passport with no barriers to entry for Canada, the United States, or international destinations
  • No barriers to security clearances required for members of the media
  • Ability to plan logistics related to content production and /or travel
  • Base knowledge of U.S. issues, politics, and principal players
  • 3 to 5 years industry experience

 

Adequate knowledge of French is required for positions in Quebec.
