Position: News Editor, CTV Winnipeg, Bell Media

Status: Regular Full time

Location: CTV Winnipeg, Manitoba

Salary: Unifor Local 816M – Group VII, Commensurate with qualifications and experience

Hours of Work: Regular Early morning shifts. Varying shifts, including evenings and weekends. Overtime as required



  • Editing video and sound material on deadline for broadcast
  • Back-fill for production editor
  • Operating an ENG Camera, including lighting and sound equipment for news and sports
  • Interviewing story subjects
  • Contributing to the station’s on-line content
  • Shooting and editing promotion and production elements
  • Studio camera, teleprompter and floor directing as needed
  • The safe operation of all equipment, and formally reporting any malfunctions of equipment immediately
  • Other related duties as assigned



  • Post-Secondary Education in Television Broadcasting as well as 3 years of related industry experience  including shooting and editing in a non-linear environment
  • Demonstrated expertise in using non-linear editing software; avid media composer including advanced features such as colour correction and audio mixing an asset
  • Experience in ENG photography and editing in a newsroom setting an asset
  • Proven ability to use sound and pictures to help tell the story
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with the ability to work unsupervised and make quick decisions
  • Must be well versed in a variety of computer programs, graphics in motion in an avid edit environment and Adobe after Effects.
  • Ability to deal with multiple demands and pressures of on-air deadlines
  • Understanding of broadcast law
  • Demonstrated ability to react quickly and productively in a changing environment requiring immediate decision making
  • Must have and maintain valid documents required for travel to the United States
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 or equivalent driver’s licence
