Position Summary:

The Senior IT Project Manager is responsible for project delivery across the Bell MTS IT landscape; this encompasses detailed planning, scheduling, and successful delivery of IT application and infrastructure changes to our production environments.  Responsibilities for this role include managing delivery for larger projects which are complex, of a longer duration, and span multiple Bell MTS organizations.

 

The application of project management discipline, as outlined in the Project Management Methodology, ensures that project management processes are adhered to through the various project phases: initiation, planning, execution, controlling, and closing.  The Senior Project Manager assumes responsibility for their project deliverables by applying a highly concentrated focus on quality, being on time, on budget and ensuring that the goals and objectives of Bell MTS IT are being met. 

 

The goal of this role is to establish and strive for project delivery excellence and effectiveness; this is achieved by ensuring maximum preparedness, planning, scheduling and delivery quality assurance to protect production system availability, security posture, enterprise data warehouse and digital experiences by following IT best practice.

 

This role collaborates extensively with IT Program Managers, IT Technology Managers, Project Managers, project delivery teams, IT Front Door, IT vendors and our business units / clients.

 

The Senior IT Project Manager may also be responsible for a blend of supervisory responsibilities for Bell MTS IT resources and program management leadership under the Program Manager.

 

The Senior IT Project Manager position will include some or all of the following responsibilities:

  • You will be accountable for the detailed planning and successful delivery of larger projects which are often complex or of a longer duration; this requires demonstration of strong risk mitigation attributes and managing stakeholder expectations through effective communications
  • Maintains organizational and delivery effectiveness, by creating detailed project schedules, status reporting and the compilation of all required project artifacts
  • Accountable for maintaining project forecasting and compliance, including all pre-project approval due diligence requirements, comprising of but not limited to: Infrastructure Council, Architecture, Privacy and Security Assessments, and IT Controller reviews.
  • Provides support, guidance, mentorship and leadership to project team members, including defining of workload, priorities and critical tasks  
  • Maintains and adheres to established security controls and standards for data management, safeguarding and protecting the use of data for all project purposes
  • Maintains optimized project resource utilization through load and capacity monitoring following established IT Front Door processes
  • You will also be responsible for maintaining applicable IT vendor relationships with support and delivery partners, including third party development vendors
  • Provides support to the Senior Program Manager for the effective administering and delivery of projects that align with the IT program, including implementation of recommended processes to mature and strengthen program delivery
  • This position is also responsible to lead the Field Services Program.

 

The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities that align with the Bell Leadership Success Profile, which defines the skills, behaviours and performance results we look for in every team member to help you succeed
  • Post-secondary education in Information Technology or Engineering and/or an equivalent combination of education and related IT experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to present technical issues to a diverse audience and across departments
  • Extensive experience with, and functional and technical knowledge of Information Security, Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW), IVR and/or Digital Experience applications.
  • Experience with conflict resolution and negotiation strategies, and the ability to apply those experiences when interacting with difficult stakeholders
  • Experience with operational best practices and service delivery related to change control, system incident management and problem management
  • Excellent communications and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and problems solving skill, including the ability to perform problem resolution
  • Experience participating in all phases of the development of technology solutions, using recognized methodologies, including extensive demonstrated knowledge and experience of Agile and Waterfall Systems Development Life Cycles and Project Delivery Methodologies.
  • Extensive experience creating Work Breakdown Structures for the planning, scheduling, tracking and completion of activities using recognized applications including Microsoft Project
  • Experience with project forecasting, SAP Project Systems module, including the planning and scheduling of activities, and the reconciliation of project labour, costs, and budget
  • Demonstrated experience leading and facilitating delivery operations critical tasks including, funding submissions, gating checkpoint reviews, IT project kick-offs, design reviews, IT resource management, vendor support partner engagements, release planning readiness reviews and development of implementation playbooks.
  • Knowledge of a capital planning cycle including cost & schedule estimating, team roles and responsibilities, quality assurance practices and business case methodology
  • Customer service and application availability focused
  • Current knowledge of the Information Technology industry, such as concepts and direction and telecommunication business trends and issues
  • Advanced IT systems and application knowledge
  • Ability to prioritize and manage a large number of key activities and / or large scale solutions and / or programs in a dynamic environment to ensure successful implementation
